House and design
Sleep well.
The rest can wait.
A holiday home soon brings kitchens and terraces to mind. We did not want the bedroom to be an afterthought.
Comfort is personal. We do not promise a particular night’s sleep, but surroundings furnished with care.
You spend a fairly substantial part of a stay in bed. Yet, in holiday homes, the terrace, the kitchen and the view from the sitting room often get the attention first. We think the bedroom deserves to move a little further up that list.
Not as an equipment competition, but because a house should also work when the day is over, the lights are out and nobody is thinking about a photograph.
More than a mattress
The bed.
And the space around it.
For us, a good bedroom is not just the bed itself. There should also be somewhere for the things that naturally come along in the evening: a book, water, a phone, perhaps glasses. If all of that has to be improvised, even a lovely room suddenly feels impractical.
So, when furnishing it, we thought beyond the first impression to the ordinary movements: arriving, putting things down, reading, switching off the light. The unremarkable details are often the ones you only notice when they are missing.
A different end to the day
Not another
item on the programme.
We like evenings that are not filled to the last minute. Sitting for a while, perhaps reading a little, without feeling obliged to make the absolute most of a holiday day. The bedroom is then more than somewhere to collapse briefly before carrying on.
Of course, not everyone sleeps equally well in every setting. We do not turn a bed into a health promise. You know best how you sleep. What we can shape is the room and the care with which it has been furnished.
The next morning
The best amenities
do not keep announcing themselves.
Ideally, the next day begins without a major stocktake. You get up, go to the kitchen and look at the lake. The bed has done its job without becoming the subject of the entire stay.
If you have specific questions about the sleeping arrangements or amenities before booking, ask us directly. A precise answer is more useful than any general claim about perfect sleep.
Our verdict
We did not furnish the bedroom for the last page of an amenities list. We furnished it for roughly a third of your stay.
