Täppetstranden in Åhus

Stories & Tips

Ideas for your stay

Four days.
With room between them.

The lake, an outing, a little countryside and at least one day that is allowed to stay open.

Not a bookable programme. Adapt the order and destinations to the weather, opening days and what you feel like doing.

Four days are long enough to do more than arrive, and short enough to fill completely with too many ideas. We would therefore plan no more than one larger outing and keep the rest rather looser.

This suggestion assumes you have four days here. If those four days include long journeys at either end, drop a destination rather than making every day tighter.

Day one

Rågeboda.
Without a detour.

Shop, arrive, get to know the house. After that, a short walk or a look from the shore is enough. We would not add a long drive to the end of a long journey on the first day.

If you arrive early, there may be room for something nearby. First, though, ask whether you actually want to go out again. Arriving is not unproductive time between two outings.

Day two

A day by the sea.
Åhus.

For a larger outing, our suggestion is Åhus: harbour, little streets, a break and perhaps Täppetstranden later on. Our Åhus article brings together our favourite stops. Check bookings and opening hours beforehand, especially outside the main season.

We would plan nothing else substantial for this day. Sea, food and the drive home fill it quite happily, even if you have not seen every corner.

Day three

The nearby countryside.
One decision is enough.

In good swimming weather, Breanäs on Immeln or Hjärtasjön might suit. If you would prefer a museum, consider the IKEA Museum in Älmhult. These are alternatives, not a suggestion to fit everything into the same day.

Perhaps combine a journey with lunch in Broby or a pause in Lönsboda. The opening days need to fit. Our small restaurant selection helps narrow things down; current confirmation comes from the establishment itself.

Day four

Back to the lake.
Or simply stay.

We would not allocate the whole of the last day in advance. Perhaps you would like to revisit somewhere. Perhaps this is the first day you find yourself sitting on the terrace without thinking about the next outing.

If you are travelling home that day, keep it to a short walk and an unhurried departure. If not, the day can grow a little. The agreeable thing about a loose plan is that it does not take offence when you change it.

Our verdict

One larger outing, a look around the area and enough time at the house. Four days need not prove anything more.
